Ben Gunn spent years sailing on a pirate ship under the command of the legendary Captain Flint. He served as a junior sailor, though in reality, his duties were closer to those of a servant than an actual crew member. He was tasked with all the dirty work that the other pirates refused to do.
A New Ship
After Flint’s death, his crew scattered in different directions. Ben Gunn roamed the port for a long time, hoping to find another ship that would take him on, even as a lowly sailor. His wish came true—after all, every ship needs someone to handle the most grueling tasks.
However, on his new vessel, Ben Gunn was no more respected than before. He despised the constant mockery from his crewmates but could do nothing about it.

One day, Ben Gunn’s ship happened to pass by the very island where Flint had buried his treasure. Recognizing the place instantly, he decided to share Flint’s secret with the crew, hoping to gain their respect.

Eventually, they ran out of places to dig. Furious and exhausted, the crew realized they had been chasing a fairy tale.
