A Tale of Comedy and Tragedy. Ben Gunn’s story is both humorous and tragic. Rescue him from the deserted island, and you’ll become truly wealthy!
A Hard Life
Ben Gunn spent years sailing on a pirate ship under the command of the legendary Captain Flint. He served as a junior sailor, though in reality, his duties were closer to those of a servant than an actual crew member. He was tasked with all the dirty work that the other pirates refused to do.
A New Ship
After Flint’s death, his crew scattered in different directions. Ben Gunn roamed the port for a long time, hoping to find another ship that would take him on, even as a lowly sailor. His wish came true—after all, every ship needs someone to handle the most grueling tasks.
However, on his new vessel, Ben Gunn was no more respected than before. He despised the constant mockery from his crewmates but could do nothing about it.
“I Know Where the Treasure is Buried!”
One day, Ben Gunn’s ship happened to pass by the very island where Flint had buried his treasure. Recognizing the place instantly, he decided to share Flint’s secret with the crew, hoping to gain their respect.
The pirates eagerly disembarked, desperate to uncover a chest brimming with gold and jewels. But Ben Gunn warned them—it wouldn’t be easy.
“If Only We Had a Map…”
The problem was that Flint had killed the men who helped him bury the treasure and had hidden the map himself. Without it, the only way to find the gold was to dig up the entire island.
Despite the daunting task ahead, the pirates believed the reward was worth it. For weeks, they toiled under the scorching sun, digging up every inch of land. But no matter how hard they worked, they found nothing—not even a single gold coin.
Eventually, they ran out of places to dig. Furious and exhausted, the crew realized they had been chasing a fairy tale.
“Enjoy Your Stay!”
Ben Gunn swore he was telling the truth, making desperate promises to the skeptical pirates. But after all their wasted efforts, his story seemed like nothing more than a wild fabrication.
Enraged, the crew decided to punish him. They marooned him on the island, leaving him with a sarcastic “good luck” in finding the treasure he had claimed was “somewhere around here.”
Left Completely Alone
Stranded with no company, Ben Gunn made a home in a cave, surviving on whatever he could find—roots, berries, and fish from the shoreline. Occasionally, he managed to knock a bird out of a tree with a well-aimed stone.
The island was completely uninhabited, which was both a curse and a blessing. There were no wild beasts to threaten him, but there was also no one to help him escape.
Flint’s Treasure
Determined to make the best of his exile, Ben Gunn never gave up. He knew that one day he would leave the island, and when that day came, he would need wealth to start a new life.
Over time, the once-scorned sailor transformed into a true Robinson Crusoe. And at long last—he found Flint’s treasure! He carried the gold back to his cave, waiting for the day a savior would arrive to take him off the cursed island.
Rescue Ben Gunn now, and he’ll gladly share his gold with you!
