The Emergence of Man
Millions of years ago, the Almighty created the Earth. He looked upon it and rejoiced at the work of His hands. He was served by angels who assisted Him in all things, carrying out His will.
Then the Almighty created man in His own image. Thus, Adam was born—a handsome man, a living being, and the beloved of his Creator. The Almighty commanded the angels to bow before man and to fulfill his will, as long as it did not contradict the divine plan.
Exiled from Paradise
Many obeyed the will of their Lord, but there were those who refused to submit. They did not want to acknowledge the authority of a weak creature of flesh and blood, who only vaguely resembled the Almighty. They were led by the most beautiful of all angels, who began to persuade the Creator not to humiliate the others and to consider the pride of His loyal servants.
The Creator remained steadfast in His decision to elevate man. Approximately one-third of the angels refused to carry out God’s will. And so, the Creator commanded the others to cast the disobedient far away.
The Forbidden Fruit is Always Sweet
The proud angels fell from heaven one by one, landing straight into hell. Naturally, they grew to hate man with all their heart. The leader among them became the devil himself, who vowed to harm Adam and his kind for as long as he was able.
One day, the lord of hell transformed into a serpent and slithered into paradise, hiding among the grass and flowers. There, he encountered Eve—by then, the Almighty had already created woman to make Adam’s life a bit more cheerful. The Creator allowed His creations to eat fruit from any tree except one, which was the most beautiful.
The Appearance of the Serpent-Tempter
The devil convinced Eve to break the prohibition. She took a bite of the ripe fruit and suddenly realized she was completely naked! Then Eve persuaded Adam to try the same treat. After taking a bite, he too became aware of his nakedness and immediately covered himself with a fig leaf.
The Almighty was deeply displeased with what the humans had done. Even more, He was upset that both began to deny their actions, stubbornly refusing to admit their wrongdoing. For this, the Creator banished them from paradise into the mortal world and cursed the devil forever.
Viceroys of Hell and Heaven
Since then, humans have lived on Earth. Adam and Eve had children, and the human race gradually filled the world. Meanwhile, the devil and his followers decided to continue harming humans in every way possible. The lord of hell left the demoness Dariel in his place to oversee the underworld, while he himself went to the surface to lead human souls astray.
The Almighty understood the cursed lord’s plan. He sent angels, commanding them to prevent the devil’s servants from tempting humans into sin. The leader of the heavenly host had to leave Eden by the Creator’s will. In his place, he left the angel Salatiel to oversee what was happening in paradise.
