How much money can be earned from a great discovery? Help Professor Pickles and his assistant Muriel – then we’ll see how much we can make!
The Secret Laboratory
Muriel worked at the GK-12 laboratory, which was part of a secret NASA division. He was well-regarded.
Of course, the position of junior lab assistant wasn’t prestigious, but not everything comes easily. Many prominent scientists who made groundbreaking discoveries started by washing test tubes, despite their excellent diplomas.
Someone’s time for retirement has come
A couple of years later, Muriel was assigned to the astronomical branch of the GK-12 laboratory. The young and promising specialist was appointed as the assistant to Professor Pickles, who, at the age of ninety-three, was no longer able to carry out his duties as head.
He often fell asleep at his desk, forgot his responsibilities, and mixed up the names of scientific staff. Furthermore, the elderly Pickles could no longer sit for hours, gazing through the telescope, searching for new celestial bodies, though he was supposed to send a report to headquarters at least once a year. Otherwise, the big bosses might think the GK-12 lab was unnecessary and would simply transfer the staff to other departments.
A Gifted Assistant
Muriel took on half of Pickles’ work. The professor was incredibly pleased with his new assistant, who allowed him to shorten his workday to an almost ridiculous extent. In fact, Pickles hardly did anything except sign papers.
When Muriel had proven himself as one of the most responsible employees in the lab, the professor entrusted him with a spot at the telescope. Now, his assistant had to solve complex equations to calculate the coordinates of points that needed to be observed in great detail. You didn’t think astronomers just sit and stare through telescopes, hoping to see something interesting, did you?! No, astronomy is based on mathematics and precise calculations! Otherwise, one lifetime wouldn’t be enough to observe the entire universe…
What Do We Have Here!
Time passed, Muriel carried out his duties, Pickles slept in his office from 9 AM to 6 PM – in short, harmony had come to the laboratory. One day, after finishing another equation, Muriel obtained the coordinates that needed to be checked.
The assistant of the perpetually sleeping professor sat at the telescope. Muriel entered the coordinates and began verifying the result of the equation…
The Great Discovery
Imagine his surprise when, after a minute, the telescope’s electronics detected a new celestial body! After zooming in to the maximum, Muriel discovered nine burning stars the size of the planet Earth. Each of these celestial bodies resembled a small sun. Furthermore, Muriel managed to spot a strange astronomical phenomenon on the surface of the stars, which looked like a slot machine.
Muriel rushed to wake his direct superior from his deep slumber. Hearing about the great discovery, the professor wished to personally take a look at the nine burning stars.
Astronomy Needs a New Hero
Pickles was in no rush to “signal” upwards. First, the professor wanted to understand what this phenomenon was and how it worked. He could interact with it directly from the laboratory using the quantum emitter.
However, Pickles was getting a bit too old for such intense work. Maybe you’ll give it a try? Test your luck, and you might just uncover the secret of one of the most unusual phenomena in the history of modern astronomy!
