The king declared that he would only give his daughter in marriage to the suitor who could collect seventy-two magical artifacts and present them as proof of his boundless love.

How exactly gathering treasures related to his love for the princess remained a mystery—but the king preferred not to elaborate. Perhaps he wished to test the groom’s dedication… or maybe it was just plain greed, taking advantage of the situation to enrich his treasury.

Crazier Than the King

When the king announced the challenge, many suitors withdrew. Some palace residents even whispered among themselves, calling the ruler mad for such an absurd demand.

Many fortune seekers had already looted the outskirts of the forsaken city. However, no one dared to venture deeper—because the city was now haunted. Spirits, created by ancient magic, roamed the ruins, fiercely hostile to all living beings. Any reckless adventurer who entered the heart of Fu Xi Kao Valley faced a painful death. The spirits were immune to ordinary weapons!
